The Deusto Campus Mundus 2015 project has passed the examination of the International Campus of Excellence call and has obtained the grade of International Campus of Excellence Promising Project.

The Deusto Campus Mundus 2015 project has been described as an ?International Campus of Excellence Promising Project? by the Ministries of Education and of Science and Innovation. This recognition is based on the report developed by an International Committee of Experts which places the University of Deusto on the starting line to join the elite of the Spanish university system and of the university map of international excellence in 2015. The ICE qualification is conditional on the Strategic Plans presented by the Universities having the necessary finance for the execution of the activities described in them.

The University of Deusto has obtained this mention for its Deusto Campus Mundus 2015 project, a plan that considers better and greater levels of excellence in the areas of teaching-learning, research, transfer of knowledge, internationalisation, the transformation of the campus and its interaction with its local and global surroundings.

Within the plan, they highlight two future actions: the creation of the Deusto Tuning Academy, a great centre of international excellence in the application of the Deusto teaching-learning model based on competences and values, and of the Deusto Research Center in Social Sciences, dedicated to promoting research in the area of social sciences. This recognition reaffirms Deusto in its commitment to excellence and establishes the bases for the strategic lines of the University of Deusto for the period 2010-2015.

For the Rector of the University of Deusto, this mention is a cause for satisfaction as well as a challenge and a commitment to locate the University of Deusto, in particular, and the Basque university system, generally, on the university map of excellence. As Jaime Ora� has explained, the integral project ?Deusto Campus Mundus 2015? for which the recognition has been obtained ?is the reflection of what we are and what we want to be, of what we have achieved and of what we fight for. Excellence is the horizon, as well as the path.

This recognition reaffirms, more than ever if possible, our commitment to excellence, which means, better trained people, more and better research and transfer, and more innovative companies and organizations; a commitment to excellence which, really, means a better country. For all these reasons, the Rector of Deusto adds that the project Campus Mundus 2015 is a great opportunity and a challenge for us all, and that to reinforce cooperation between the university, the company, social initiative and institutions is, without a doubt, the best way towards excellence.

Together with Deusto the same qualification has been obtained by the projects presented by the University of Navarra and Ramon Llul University, as well as projects presented by six other public universities within the State. Deusto is the only one of the three Basque universities that has passed this examination of excellence with which it aspires to be placed in 2015 among the 100 best universities in Europe and among the 500 best in the world.
